Getting Rid Of Bed Bugs Is Not An Easy Task

by Thomas Proctor

It's not easy getting rid of bed bugs. It helps to know what to look for. Red or brown stains on the sheets are evidence of bed bug infestation. Any time you notice such evidence of bed bugs when you are staying at a hotel or motel you should demand that they give you another room.

One of the things that makes it extremely hard "getting rid of bed bugs" is that most people are unaware they are even an issue. Bed bugs hide until just before dawn when they come out to feed, this is when they can be seen with a flash light. An adult size bed bug is only the size of an apple seed, the younger ones are tiny making them extremely hard to see.

Some sprays are on the market to help you to rid yourself of bed bugs, but many of them aren't as effective as one would prefer. If two bed bugs managed to escape when you were attempting to eliminate them, they'd reproduce, thus causing the problems to begin once again.

If you are in the process of "getting rid of bed bugs" you should first strip all bedding in the home, thoroughly vacuum all living areas, treat the couch the same way you would your mattress incase they have infested that area as well. Most people don't realize that bed bugs are hitch hikers they like to travel with you anywhere you go. You have to treat your linens in hot water that is at least 113 degrees to kill bed bugs. It may be easier to get rid of your mattress, and just treat the other areas.

The biggest thing you need to realize when "bedbug eradication" is that they are not strictly in your bed. They will live in cracks in the walls, in areas where you wouldn't expect them to be. If you have any cracks in your walls you want to spray in the cracks and then caulk them, preventing the bugs from going in.

The best way to get rid of any bug especially bed bugs is to call in a "pest control" specialist. Even if you are just under suspicion the bug may be there it is better to be safe than sorry. The professionals will come into your home spray with chemicals to flush out the bugs, and in the areas that you touch such as your bed they use a hot steam to kill them.

Bed bugs hide in dark places until the sun comes up, and can be easily seen with a light source such as a flashlight. Permanently getting rid of bed bugs can be a very challenging task. Calling a pest control expert experienced in bedbug eradication is the best way to eliminate bed bugs. There are sprays you can purchase which will help eradicate bed bugs, but the majority of these sprays do not work as well as we wish they would. If only two bed bugs escape during the process, they will reproduce, creating another bed bug infestation.
