Stop Bad Pet Breath

Does your pet have excessive bad breath? Bad breath is also know as halitosis in the medical community. It can be difficult to get “up close and personal” with any pet (or person) with bad breath. Many pet owners get pets so they can show them love and be close. However, if bad breath is allowed to persist, the pet/owner relationship is likely to have major problems at some point.

Brushing your pet’s teeth is a viable option to this problem, although it can be frustrating to you and the pet. The pet doesn’t understand the importance of brushing their teeth, as they seem to never mind anyone’s bad breath. You may have to talk calmly to your pet to help them stay still. It’s also possible you’ll have to hold them down or have someone else help you hold them down. It is very likely the animal will resist, but you have to play the part of the owner, and do what you know is best for your pet and its relationships with people.

Another way to treat and temporarily cure your animals bad breath is to feed them different food. Foods put smells in our mouths, and different foods contribute different smells. The result is not quite a garden, but is more like a sewer, with unwanted waste floating around inside the mouth. Think about what you have been feeding your pet. Do those foods smell pleasant? If not, you shouldn’t expect it to make your pet’s mouth smell pleasant. Feed them foods that smell good and you’re much more likely to have a pet with breath that smells decent.
